Podcasts I am Subscribed too

I was introduced to listening to podcasts just recently, and unfortunately finding quality radio like feeds are still rather difficult. What is podcasting? Podcasting is a method of publishing audio programs via the Internet, allowing users to subscribe to a feed of new files (usually MP3s). Regardless I have been able to find a few podcasts worth listening to, almost, every release. The best site I could find for postcast directories would be Podcast.net, and maybe iPodder.org or Loomia.com. Also feel free to check out my local podcast bookmarks. In no particular order, my podcast subscription list;

  • Note: Many of the links below are to the direct podcast feed. I recommenced Winamp v5.1+ for managing the subscriptions. To add the feed simply open up the media library, and then select the SHOUTcast Wire from the left hand tree.

We all love Leo Laporte, right?

this WEEK in TECH (tWiT) - Discussion of the latest trends in digital technology. We all love Leo Laporte, right? I sure do! Twit is perhaps the most popular podcast on the Internet today with a report of almost 40,000 listeners. Here you get the best of Leo Laporte, Patrick Norton, Kevin Rose, John C. Dvorak, and the other geeked out celebrities sitting around talking about some-what recent news. Sure, Leo some how slips in information that is way off topic, but that is what makes twit number one.

The Web 2.0 Show The Internet the way it should be. I have listened to both (yes only two at the time of this blogging) episodes and somewhat enjoyed the audio chatting about the infamous web 2.0. I believe they will pick-up and really impress me some time soon.

Security Now - A weekly look at security issues with Steve Gibson of ShieldsUP! This is yet another podcast with Leo Laporte, but the main attraction is Steve. I really agree with some topics and totally disagree with others (like his suggestion of no software firewall? Bah!) but this guy really knows his shit when it comes to computing and is well worth the listen.

Diggnation - a weekly tech/web culture show based on the top digg.com social bookmarking news stories. Hosted by Kevin Rose & Alex Albrecht this podcast only reached my subscription list last week after hearing Kevin plug it at least twenty times on the TWIT show. Starting at the beginning I was really turned off by the, somewhat, childish on-air manors. I listen to most of my podcasts while at work, come on people! Quit talking about fart jokes and beer for a little? *Shrugs* I keep this feed on my subscription hoping for better in the near future. On another note, if you are a frequent visitor to the Digg web site be prepared to listen to the same stores you read about the following week.

Boagworld - All things relating to web design and web development. Last but not least, this web design podcast is excellent. I always try to work my way from the first episode to the most recent and the show seems to get better every release. To be honest, I was listening to episode three today and the on-air voice (sorry, I'm unsure of your name) asked that anyone listening would suggest his podcast to other. Hence the reason for this blog entry. No matter if you are a web designer or simply an Internet surfer, tune into boagworld.

That would be my current subscription list. Hopefully you found at least one new podcast to add. Have a suggestion for another podcast that I might enjoy? Please leave me some feedback.
